Water Color Paintings

Zahra Zandiyeh is an Iranian-born watercolor artist based in Canada whose practice explores the relationship between observation, memory, place, and the natural world. Her passion for painting emerged during adolescence and gradually developed into a sustained artistic practice. Coming from a family primarily rooted in medicine and engineering, she became the first member of her family to pursue art and literature as both academic and professional paths.

For six years, Zahra trained in watercolor painting under the mentorship of Iranian artist Shahriar Vosough. Through this intensive period of artistic practice, she developed a strong technical foundation and gained experience in a wide range of watercolor methods. She subsequently expanded her practice to include acrylic painting, mixed media, and watercolor on canvas. During her time in Iran, she participated in two group exhibitions, presenting her work alongside other artists.

Her visual language is shaped by an enduring interest in architecture, still life, landscapes, seasonal transformations, and animals. Rather than treating these subjects solely as representational forms, she approaches them as a means of exploring atmosphere, light, movement, and emotional resonance. The transparency and fluidity of watercolor are central to her process, allowing her work to move between precision and spontaneity, structure and softness.

Now continuing her artistic practice in Canada, Zahra is focused on developing a distinctive and cohesive body of work. She aims to expand her visual language, participate in international exhibitions, and present solo exhibitions that reflect the evolution of her artistic identity across cultures and geographies.
